Pet Diagnostic Testing in Rocky Point
Performing Diagnostic Tests for Faster Treatment
Because your pet can’t tell us what’s wrong, prompt and accurate testing is necessary to form a diagnosis. Many animals may not show signs that they are sick until they are very sick. With some serious disorders, your pet may not even feel sick!
Early detection of illness allows us to treat your pet faster and more effectively for a better outcome. The sooner we can identify a problem, the faster we can provide treatment.
Rocky Point Animal Hospital has a full in-house diagnostic lab and access to advanced specialists to assist our veterinarians in making a diagnosis so that we can begin appropriate treatment right away.
Some of the routine lab screens we use include:
- Complete blood count
- Liver function screening
- Kidney function screening
- Endocrine screening
- Intestinal parasite screening
- Heartworm test
- Screening for tick-borne diseases
By investing in diagnostic testing for your pet in Rocky Point, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing that we’ll be able to uncover any minor issues before they become serious problems.

For a Closer View Inside Your Pet
Blood tests and hands-on examinations aren’t always conclusive. There are times when looking inside your pet is important for us to form a diagnosis and recommend the right course of treatment. Digital x-rays can give us a visual representation of what is going on inside your pet.
Modern digital radiography allows us to obtain high-quality diagnostic images. At Rocky Point Animal Hospital, we use the most advanced digital x-ray system, allowing us to get the images we need quickly and efficiently, thus minimizing the amount of restraint required and reducing your pet’s exposure to x-rays.
Ultrasound allows us to obtain even greater detail of internal organs and heart function. It also helps us to identify masses that are sometimes not visible on an x-ray. Our pet diagnostic team in Rocky Point also works with highly skilled ultrasound specialists who are available as needed.
As soon as we have analyzed your pet’s test results, we can begin the appropriate treatment. In addition to illness, quick results are valuable for pre-anesthetic testing that is performed if your pet is about to undergo surgery, as well as for evaluating your pet if there is an emergency. Pre-anesthetic testing provides you with peace of mind and gives us important physiological information about your pet before we administer anesthesia.
